Currency conversion¶
4Geeks can process charges in multiple currencies, but your payouts settle in the currency of your account. When those two currencies differ, a conversion happens automatically.
Summary
When it applies: only when you use 4Geeks Payments as a gateway in production.
What it converts: the collection currency to your account currency.
What it costs: 4Geeks adds no extra fee to the reference rate.
When does a conversion happen?¶
A conversion occurs when the collection currency (what the customer pays) is different from the settlement currency (the currency of your account).

How the reference rate works¶
- 4Geeks uses a standard reference rate based on international indices and banks.
- Values are refreshed once or twice per day.
- 4Geeks does not add an extra fee on top of the reference rate.
Estimates, not a guarantee
The reference rate is useful for planning and reconciliation. The final amount can vary slightly between the estimate and the moment the charge is processed.
Check the reference values¶
Use the countries endpoint to see the current reference values, where 1 USD is expressed against each currency:
- Values are updated once or twice per day.
- Use them to estimate payouts and reconcile reports.
- Do not hard-code rates in your application.
What this means for your reports¶
- Charges keep the currency the customer paid.
- Payouts show the currency you received.
- Conversion appears as the difference between the two.
