- You Get Contacted: If your profile stands out, recruiters will reach out to you directly through the platform’s messaging system.
- Direct Engagement: You own the conversation from the very first message.
Responding to Recruiter Outreach¶
When a recruiter contacts you, your response time and professionalism are critical.
1. Speed Matters¶
Recruiters are moving fast. Aim to respond to messages within 24 hours. The candidates who get hired the quickest are usually the ones who respond the fastest.
2. Be Transparent¶
If the role sounds interesting, let them know! If the salary range or the tech stack doesn’t align with your goals, be honest and polite. Radical transparency saves everyone time and leaves the door open for future opportunities with that employer.
3. Ask clarifying questions¶
Don’t be afraid to ask questions about the company mission, the team structure, or the day-to-day responsibilities in your initial responses.
Staying Active¶

Logging in signals that you are currently on the market. - Keep your status updated: If you accept a job elsewhere, update your status to avoid receiving mismatched outreach. When you are ready to look again, switch your status back to active.
